Star Wars has long since been told "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away," but when exactly does it take place? Science can now explain it.

Science suggests that the Star Wars timeline could be around 9 billion years after the Big Bang, placing it roughly around the same age as Earth.
Despite the speculation about Earth's existence in the Star Wars galaxy, the movies make it clear that it is a separate and distant reality.
Bringing Earth into the Star Wars universe would undermine the ancient and fantastical nature of the story and is unnecessary given the franchise's future plans.
