About Aarushi Bhaskaran
Aarushi is a Features writer for Screen Rant's superheroes team. She's excited about all things film and television, with a real passion got strong storytelling. As a graduate from Chapman University with a degree in Political Science and an English minor, she is particularly fascinated with the social commentary found in most superhero narratives. Although her recent writing experience has been in the field of political journalism, she got her start writing about entertainment for her high school newspaper and has been itching to get back in the game!
Favorite Media
Aarushi has loved the superhero genre since she was little. While she grew up on the MCU and the Dark Knight trilogy, she is recently intrigued by the boundaries pushed by content like The Suicide Squad (2021), Doom Patrol, and The Boys. She has a soft spot for Elizabeth Olsen's portrayal of the Scarlet Witch and loves most iterations of Spider-Man. Her favorite animated series is definitely Harley Quinn (she even dressed up as the show-version of Poison Ivy for Halloween!).
Aarushi loves more than just the superhero genre, however, and finds a lot of comfort in watching Bollywood movies and rom-coms. Some of her favorite non-superhero shows are Fleabag, Derry Girls, Ted Lasso, Lovesick, Normal People, Community, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Parks and Recreation (or anything Mike Schur!). She loves a good laugh and sometimes craves a good cry from the media she consumes. She listens to a lot of music and currently has a picker wheel with over a hundred albums on her list!
Industry Focus
Aarushi aspires to pivot from her prior focus on political journalism to move into the entertainment industry. She hopes to bring the same drive and tools to craft impactful and informative stories to her writing with Screen Rant. She started writing film reviews in high school and has a deep love for it. Her focus at Screen Rant is writing superhero features.
